

THE CHALLENGE
For the opening of the new Suite La Grava, I was tasked with the development of Logo, Visual Identity, Web Design that match the comforting, timeless and relaxing interior of the suite, and at the same time entice the guests to explore the beautiful surrounding in Xàbia.
As the design for the suite was already established, we started the development the brand from the design information that were shared with us. These were combined with research on the surrounding of the suite, and the adjacent beach.

VISUAL INSPIRATION
La Grava, is the setting of many stories, not just one. Each of its guests arrives with a different suitcase of expectations and will take a different experience back home. To re-evoke this idea of many different stories, for this brand we decided to break traditions, and abandon the idea of a single logo. We did so by creating a set of different wordmarks that all coexist together, and are used in the same frequency throughout the brand visual identity.
We then focalized our attention on combining the clean, geometrical and minimal lines of its interior design, with the distressed looks of items and materials that have been exposed for long time to sun, wind and sand. We ultimately landed on an identity that positions the suite as the door to Xabia, a door on the beach of La Grava, and the door to new adventures.



VISUAL IDENTITY
Starting from the soft tones and curves of the suite interior design, we ventured out of its four walls to identify some simple iconography that represents the Xabia experience. These will facilitate communicating some specific values and services from La Grava. Each of the icons was then overlaid with a layer of stippled brushing, to achieve a distressed, sand-like effect.
Additionally to the iconography, we implemented the use of a door shape as a frame and symbol for all the photography work related to the suite. The simplified shape of the door represent the suite role as door to the city, door to your holiday, door to new experiences... Combined with distressed photography, this helps in creating a unique “all-year-round” holiday feel.
